Hello! Welcome to my blog!

I am an electrical engineer with a bachelor’s degree. I graduated a couple of years ago, and I want to work on personal projects, as well as further my learning in general. However, I often run out of steam or interest in my projects, so many go unfinished, or even unstarted. I want to change that. That’s why I made this blog: to keep me motivated and finishing what I started.

I also wanted a single place to keep all the things I learned and tried. I’ve been using a notebook I bought at the dollar store as a scratch pad, but it’s hard to find what I want there after a couple of days. By putting it all on a blog, I think it will be helpful not only to me, but to others who are interested in electrical engineering.

The things I post about will not be strictly limited to electrical engineering. I will no doubt talk about designing, building and testing circuits, but I’ll also be looking at other things that are tangentially related to electrical engineering; digital signal processing also comes to mind.

I will try to make a post less than or equal to two weeks apart. There are 2 types of posts I’m planning on making:

  • Projects: I’ll be giving status updates on projects that I’m working on. I’ll also be including as much documentation as possible for those who are interested.
  • Concepts: I’ll be talking about general concepts, like explaining how SPI works, or how to design a filter.

I think one of my greatest strengths as an engineer is my diligence. I scrutinize every aspect of my design and consider every possible situation it could be in. This approach has served me very well at my job. However, I also think this is the primary reason I lose interest in my personal projects; the focus on small details causes the project to drag out too long until I want to work on something else. As painful as it is for me to do this, I think for my growth I need to be more loosey-goosey with my personal projects. I shouldn’t spend days looking for the perfect IC for the job, or fall into the trap of analysis-paralysis; I have to learn when to just take a leap and try, accepting that things won’t always be exactly as I want. This blog will be very DIY, after all, so I have to keep that in mind.

Thanks for reading the intro! Have a good day!
